In a word ... No!
This is because you will be offered:-
- A No Win No Fee agreement. This simply means that you solicitors get paid when you win – usually by the other side’s insurers. They get nothing if you don’t – so they want you to win as much as you do!
- To protect you against having to pay costs to your opponent if things go wrong you would be covered by Insurance. This means an insurance policy could cover you against the risks of paying the other side’s costs if the court finds against you. This insurance is provided by a panel of independent underwriters at reasonable premiums which you could recover from your opponent in a settlement of your claim or through a Court Judgment.
- You may already have an insurance policy to assist you in paying to make your claim; this is known as Legal Expenses Insurance and you may have the benefit of it with your home insurance, travel insurance or even as a standalone policy. Most people are unaware of this valuable policy which is often added on at a small extra cost to other insurances.
